Information from find-a-grave - "Son of James Hammon, and grandson of Phillip Hamman, an early explorer and settler in the mountains of Eastern Ky. He was a Revolutionary War veteran. He (and other scouts) was helped to escape the Shawnee by the sister of Cornstalk. Silas's wife Louisa is buried there also as Luisa Hamman.
