Biography

When Mary Lou Hammond was born on 29 July 1924, in Illinois, United States, her father, Augustus "Gus" Hammond, was 22 and her mother, Alma Rae Scott, was 23. She married Wayne Dean Hammond Sr. on 28 July 19423. She lived in Gary, Lake, Indiana, United States in 1930 and Anderson Township, Clark, Illinois, United States in 1940. She died on 5 January 1993, in Bristol, Bucks, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 68.^[1]

Mary Lou Hammond, 68, of Marshall, Illinois, died Tuesday in Delaware Medical Center, Falls Township.

Born in West Union, Il., she was a resident of Fairless Hill, Pa. for 30 years before moving to Illinois eight years ago.

Mother of the late Donald L. Hammond, she is survived by her husband Wayne D. Hammond, Sr.; four sons, David S. of Fairless Hills, Kenneth D. of Bensalem, Dennis D. of Morrisville and Wayne D. Jr. of Philadelphia; three daughters, Shirley D. Rake of Morrisville and Sharon D. Connor and Debra R. Russo, both of Levittown.

She is also survived by two brothers, Eldon Scott of Wisconsin and Guy Lloyd Hammond of Terre Haute, Indiana; four sisters, Nellie Mae Klyn and Jane Hammond, both of Dickinson, North Dakota, Peggy Tingley of Snyder, Illinois, and Phyllis Hammond of West Terre Haute, Indiana; 20 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
