My name is Tom Hampel and have been interested in my family's history for the past 40 years. I was lucky enough to get started when my grandparents were still alive and could gather quite a bit of oral history. I have 5th and 6th cousins in Germany and the Czech Republic I still communicate with but have taken advantage of Ancestry.com, the LDS library, and the Czech Republic Archives to fill in dates, places, and more generations. In 1996 our family j toured Europe, visiting distant relatives of three different family lines.

Though not related to anyone famous, the search has been very interesting.
