U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Sarah (Hampton) Stratton was a Virginia colonist.

Sarah was born about 1734 in Dale Parish, Bermuda Hundred, Chesterfield, Virginia and her parents ~may have been~ Martha (Catlett) and William Richard Hampton. Some have expressed that William and Richard are father and son...

She died about 1807 in Liberty, Bedford County, Virginia, USA.

Research Notes

This text moved here from William Hampton, identified as her father:

Sarah Hampton was born 1723, and died 1783 in Albemarle, Virginia, United States. She married Richard Durrett 1737 in Colony of Virginia, British Colonial America, son of Barthalamew Durrett.

Children of Sarah Hampton and Richard Durrett are:
  1. Elizabeth Durrett, born 1738; married Jacob Watts, 1752, Albemarle, Colony of Virginia, British Colonial America
  2. Mary Durrett, born 1743; married George Martin
  3. Agatha Durrett, born 1744; married (1) Stephen J.K. Smith; married (2) William Flynt
  4. Sarah Durrett, born about 1746; married William Flint
  5. Ann Durrett, born after 1746; married Robert Sandford
  6. Richard Durrett, born after 1746; married Elizabeth Davis, 1768, Albemarle, Colony of Virginia, British Colonial America
  7. Mildred Durrett, born about 1748; married (1) William Beazley; married (2) John Williams, before 1784, Orange, Virginia, United States
  8. Frances Durrett, born about 1749; died June 03, 1831, Clark, Kentucky, United States[3]

NOTE: Currently only 2 of these children are listed on her profile. Through WT collaboration we are hoping to sort this issue. I don't believe the marriage and the 2 Durrett children can be Sarah born 1734, so am disconnecting those and the marriage to Durrett.

Hampton-3383 and Hampton-1959 appear to represent the same person because: According to the bio of William her father, Sarah Hampton (1734-1807) m1: bef.1747 Richard Durrett; m2: 26 Dec 1753 Henry Stratton; so these appear to be two profiles for the same woman, each attached to one of her husbands.
