Biography

[1] Born as the wagon train was crossing the Cosumnes River, southeast of Sacramento. In recogintion of the location and in honor of the state admission year [1850], the baby was given the fascinating name of "California Cosumnes". ... She was forever after affectionately know as either "Cali" or "Cosey".

[2]RESIDENT Of ANDERSON FOR 25 YEARS PASSES WHILE VISITING A DAUGHTER -- Mrs. C C McMurry of Anderson died Monday afternoon in Coalinga at the home of her daughter Mrs. John B Elrod. Mrs. McMurry had been In failing health for some time and only a week ago went to Coalinga to be with her daughter. At the bedside when the end came were both of her sons Ralph McMurry of this city and Arthur McMurry of Anderson and two daughters Mrs. John T Hawkins of Santa Cruz and Mrs. J M Kelly of Denver. Mrs. Kelly chanced to be on the coast In attendance at the women's convention in San Francisco. Other daughters of Mrs. McMurry are Mrs. Orr M Chenoweth Mrs. Arthur Weaver and Miss Florence McMurry all residing in Redding and Mrs. George E Hawkins, Lodi. Mrs. McMurry was born in Amador county in November 1850. For over twenty-five years she made her home In Anderson and there reared her family to manhood and womanhood. Mr. McMurry died about ten years ago and was burled at Anderson. The time of the funeral has not been fixed exactly though it is probable that it will take place next Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock burial being by the graveside of the husband and father in the Anderson cemetery.
