Biography

Sarah Hamrick was born about 1750 in Rutherford, North Carolina, the daughter of Moses Richard Hamrick and Mary (Bridges) Hamrick.

Sarah married Perry Green Magness. They had at least the following children:

  1. Sarah (Magness) Roberts,
  2. Susanna (Magness) Hawkins and
  3. David Magness

Sarah died on 10 Aug 1775 in Old Tyron County, North Carolina.[1]

Research Notes

Perry Green Magness never married and had no known children. The information used to add his supposed wife, Sarah Hamrick, is the exact same source used to add her, erroneously, as wife to Peregrine's father, Peregrine Magness Jr.. Neither relationship is valid. No sources/documentation/dates are included in the book, The Hamrick Generations, from which this so-called relationship was taken. It is definitely not a valid source and should not be used to support the purported marriage and children attached here.[2]

  • Chapter 530. Third Generation.
    • Children of Moses Richard Hamrick and wife, Mary Bridges: Henry married Elizabeth Bowens. Sarah married Perry Green Magness. ... [Page 188]
  • Chapter 563. Fourth Generation.
    • Children of Perry Green Magness and wife, Sarah Hamrick: Benjamin married Elizabeth Mauney; second wife, Nancy Walker. Jacob married Edith Webb. Susanna married Thomas Hawkins. Samuel married ------- Ragan. William never married. Robert married Mary Wilson. [Page 195]

This reference, although incorrect, is obviously meant for Peregrine Magness Jr., Sarah's supposed father-in-law. There is adequate evidence that Perry Green Magness died unmarried, without heirs, and apparently intestate. I strongly suggest the attached husband and children be removed from this profile. Hamrick-580 and Hamrick-166 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate. date of birth and death plus places are not correct on Hamrick-580

The source actually says Sarah married Perry Green Magness. He is listed as a son

Paula at first glance these two profiles currently set as an unmerged match look like two different persons. LNAB is different and matches LNAB of parents which are also different. Siblings and children also appear not to match. Is there some information that is not contained in the bio documentation that indicates these two persons may be dups ?
