Biography

William L. Hancock was born about 1759 in Virginia (Albemarle County, later Fluvanna Co^[1]). He was the son of Capt. John D. Hancock and Elizabeth Maddox.
William was named for his uncle William Hancock who went to KY with Daniel Boone, and later followed Boone to St. Louis, MO.
[However, since he married in Shenandoah County, VA, not near where his siblings married, it's somewhat questionable whether he was actually the son of John Hancock[.

William Married Oct 11, 1785 in Shenandoah Co, VA to Sarah Harding/Harden. William was named executor of Rebecca Harden/Harding's will in Jefferson Co., KY in 1823. (His father-in-law, Henry Harden/Harding's will was recorded in Jefferson Co., KY in 1796.)

His children were born in Jefferson Co, KY. beginning abt 1790.

William was the executor of his father's estate in 1802.
