Ann Hancock was born in 1828 in Eastmoor, Old Brampton, Derbyshire and was christened on 16 November 1826 at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Old Brampton, Derbyshire, the daughter of Cornelius Hancock and Elizabeth (Yates) Hancock[1]

1851 Census: Riddings, Old Brampton, Derbyshire; aged 22 years (b. Brampton, Derbyshire), described as “Out of Place”, at the residence of her parents, siblings and son Charles[4][5]
1871 Census[6]: Brampton, Derbyshire; aged 43 (b. Brampton, Derbyshire), a Housekeeper at the residence of Robert Cutting. Also recorded there as “Boarders” are three young girls: Martha Hancock aged 16 years, Eliza Hancock aged 11 years and Mary Ann Hancock an infant - all probably Ann’s illegitimate children, all born in Brampton, Derbyshire
1881 Census[7]: Brampton, Derbyshire; aged 51 years (b. Brampton, Derbyshire), at the residence of her brother John Hancock, with her daughter Mary Ann Hancock.
