Mrs. Elizabeth Hancock Sowell, 90, died Oct. 24, 2007
Funeral services were at 4 p.m., Oct. 26, at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial was held in the church cemetery.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25, at Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Mrs. Sowell was born November 21, 1916, a daughter of the late John Wesley and Ada Oliver Hancock. She was a graduate of Ruby High School and a retired employee of Chesterfield Mfg. Mrs. Sowell was a lifelong member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she served as former Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, WMU member and was a member of the Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Senior Circle.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Allison Sowell and by her 14 siblings.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Archie E. Sowell of the home; a son, Randy W. (Janice) Sowell of Chesterfield; a daughter, Mettie S. (Jim) Spittle of Matthews, N.C.
