George Hugh Haney was born on about February 25, 1874, in Wingham, Ontario, his father, Horace Haney and his mother, Christina McArthur. He married Grace Eleanor Mackay (Mckay) on September 7, 1898, in Oxford, Ontario. They had children. He died on November 12, 1932, in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, at the age of 58, and was buried there.
