I am a bit confused. If Abigail died in 1735 how did she get married in 1761?

I thought it was generally agreed that the Abigail who married Edward Cox was the widow of James Hanks who died on 25 Dec 1756. Abigail Phillips & James Hanks were married on 30 Jun 1742. Edward Cox & James Hanks served together in the militia. Perhaps I read this on Rootsweb. I will try to provide sources.

From handwritten “Record of Marriages,” no page number given, “Edward Cox and Abigail Hanks Both of Pembroke were married October ye 14th 1761 by ye Rev. mr. Gad Hitchcock.” [Note that Rev. Gad Hitchcock was pastor of the 2nd Pembroke Church, now the First Congregational Church of Hanson, Mass.] Document image is part of Ancestry’s online database “Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988,” compiled from original Town and City Clerks of Massachusetts by Holbrook Research Institute (Jay and Delene Holbrook) of Provo, UT, “Massachusetts Vital and Town Records.”
