Biography

"Howard Bruce Hanks, Jr., 90, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away on November 16, 1984,^[1] after a brief illness. He was born to Howard B., Sr. and his wife Ethel (Buck) Hanks on September 21, 1924, in Faribault County, Minnesota.

H. Bruce was a Baptist minister for 40 years, pastoring several congregations in the Upper Midwest. He was gifted in relating meaningfully to all those around him. His strength was in Bible teaching, which was foundational for many people’s faith. In each community, he was a strong civic contributor as well. Rev. Hanks retired from the ministry in 1987 and moved to Texas in 1996.

Rev. Hanks was very tall and resembled President Abraham Lincoln. He is a distant cousin of Nancy Hanks, Lincoln’s mother. In the 1970s he started presenting programs about Lincoln at schools, churches, and civic events throughout the United States. He was honored by the Association of Lincoln Presenters with “The Legend” award. He continued portraying Lincoln until 2006."^[2]
