Azelie Hanks lived in Louisiana.

Azelia Hanks was born on January 1, 1852, and her birth was registered at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, St. Landry, Louisiana; she was the second daughter of Ralph Hanks and Marie Arthemise Abshire.[1] She was most likely born in Vermilion Parish, though, as that's where her family was counted on the census in 1850 and in 1860.[2][3]

In the 1870's her family moved to Lafayette (or perhaps the parish boundaries changed), [4] where they were neighbors with Maxile and Azelie Cormier and their children. [5] Several Hanks brothers and sisters married Cormier brothers and sisters. Azelie married Occuli Cormier around 1878. They settled in Lafayette, close to many family members, and had three children there. [6]

Azelie was widowed by 1900.[7]

On June 2, 1920, at the age of 68, Azelia Hanks Cormier died in her home in Lafayette, Louisiana.[8]
