Birth

Joseph Hanscom, oldest child of Joseph Hanscom and Hannah (Libby) Hanscom, was born 22 Sep 1731 in Eliot, York, Maine.

Marriage

In 1755, Joseph Hanscome married Dorcas (Staples) Hanscom, daughter of James Staples and Dorcas (Libby) Staples. Children:

  • Nathaniel Hanscome, b. 1756, d. 1830, m. 8 Dec 1781 Lucy Staples

Occupation: Shipwright. Joseph a sailmaker on the ship Ranger for the Continental Navy during the Revolutionary War, 1779-1780

Joseph wrote his will on 17 Feb 1780 in Kittery, York, Maine. Died serving in the Continental Navy in 1780.
