Van Noorstrand-8 and Van Noordstrant-1 do not represent the same person because: Attached mother was born in 1632 so there are issues with this profile. Van Noordstrant-1 has the mother attached as the spouse so these can't be duplicates.
Returned dates that were originally in the NNS protected profile.
The merge previously done has some issues. The father has a birth date of 1575. One profile had completely different birth and death dates.

Dates before the merge. Birth date 1613-00-00 & Death Date 1690-04-01

Van Noordstrant-1 and Van Noortstrand-1 appear to represent the same person because: I believe these are the same, I show the same wife.

Van Nostrand-17 and Van Noorstrant-2 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest paternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. I had previously listed the son Symon in the bio, and he is now included in this match, so this will complete one more of the puzzle pieces. Thanks!

Van Noorsdrant-2 and Van Noorstrant-2 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Van_Noorstrant-2 is the lowest-numbered profile for the preferred LNAB, and it's PPP.

Hanson-1781 and Van Noorstrant-2 appear to represent the same person because: This is the common paternal ancestor, father of the common daughter in this line, and he can now be merged into the established NNS PPP profile. No tree conflicts. Thanks!

Hansen-1461 and Van Noorstrant-2 appear to represent the same person because: they were in an unmerged match & the New Netherland Settlers Approval System (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:New_Netherland_Settlers_-_Approval_System) now has them marked "Green" (NNS Category) and "Orange" (Merge Pending), indicating that the two are ready to be merged. I think Hans is a match on the van Norstrand line below, but after a bit of a merge mess, it needs to be studied and documented a bit first.

Here is what I found in my desktop database so far, that we can add. Hans had two, maybe three wives. These are notes from researcher John Van Norstrand, Jan 2001:

Hans marries Jannecken Van Loon in 1642 as mentioned in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record Vol. 6, 1875, the Marriage Book and Register of the Reformed Dutch Church of the City of New York.

Actually I think that is a typo by John, and he meant 1652, because I show him and others instead citing the date NOV. 29, 1652. So that record needs to be checked.

I added the list of children to the bio here, and after studying it, I am now clear that this is a matching profile, so I am going to set an Unmerged Match for now. The daughter attaached here is Catatlyntje, born 1653, and the van Loon mother attached here is the second wife, married 1652. So that part fits, as does the older children by the first wife on the matching profile.

I am next going to look at the father Jan, and it looks like we will need a new profile to be created for Hans' brother Jacob. But that will be later.

I will next attach the father Jan to this Hans so that it will be easier to click on the descendant tree to see how the whole family lays out.

I see from the G2G discussion that this proifle was the result of perhaps some bad merges, and probably some bad original data.

From what has survived in the bio, his name has to be Hans. His children fit in the tree timeline, and they both have the patronymic Hansen, which supports his name as Hans as well.

But it appears that people who do not understand patronymics originally imported Hans as Hansen LNAB, like his children, assuming it to be a surname. That is completely wrong for Hans, of course.

Hans has a Jansen patronymic that has survived the merging, and that works best for a LNAB here, as his father was Jan.

I think I know who the father Jan is, but I need to study this a bit more before I go on.

Just for point of comparison, I believe that the match for Hans is this profile:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Van_Noorstrant-2

But don't try to merge it yet, because I am still trying to unwind this.

I think the origin of the name "Seymen" here comes from a son of Hans: as John says,

"Hans was also present at the wedding of his son, Symon to the widower Maria Frederickx on 10/14/1663 in the Brooklyn Dutch Reformed Church. He is listed by the name of Hans Hansse. Han's will proved in 1690 only mentions Pieter, Garret, Volkert and Jan. It did mention that Jan was the youngest. Volkert's will does mention Simon as a brother and he must have fallen out of favor with his father."

I added the list of children to the other bio, and after studying it, it does look like we have a match. He was indeed known also as Hans Hansen, so perhaps it's a Danish language translation issue, Jan = Han? The death date of 1663 here is wrong, he died Bef. April 1, 1690. So I am still trying to locate the orign of the 1663 date. I set an Unmerged Match, and I am next going to look at what to do with the father Jan. Probably tomorrow.

Although it is likely that they merely come from the same island of the name, and not closely related.
