Biography

1743, Apr. 18; born at Albany, Albany, New York to Ryckert Hansen and Catryna Ten Broeck.

1743, Apr. 24; Baptized at the First Dutch Reformed Church, Albany, NY

1767; At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Tuesday the 28th day of March, 1767. "This day was sold unto Dirick Hansen the Ferry leading from the City of Albany to Green Bush for twenty-two pounds N. York currency for one year to begin from the 4th April 1767 to the 4th day of April 1768."

And also an Ordinance was this day published to regulate the Ferry between the limits of this City and Green Bush.

Helen Low, daughter of Nicholas Low of Rensselaer Co., NY on July 18, 1781 m. at Albany, NY. Dirck d. June 1799. Widow applied May 18, 1837 Schenectady, NY age 76. Soldier lived in Albany Co., NY at enlistment. Son Nicholas b. May 29, 1782 another unnamed child, b. Feb. 22, 1785. Widow m. 2nd to Rev. Dr. William Linn of NY City on May 27, 1800 and he died Jan 1807. (member of the Dutch Reformed Church of NYC)

Greenbush: A descriptive rather than political term referring to that part of Rensselaerswyck across the river from Albany and extending up the hill to the east. Perhaps, it paralleled the present-day towns of East and North Greenbush - but maybe not extending all the way to today's Troy!
