Absent in the body, present with our Lord Jesus Christ, Bettye Hansen Chandler, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 20, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was kind, generous, unselfish and compassionate. She possessed a kind and gentle spirit. She had a tremendous influence on the lives of so many of the students she taught. She was an encourager and had a unique gift of making her students believe in themselves. She had a loving passion for helping others and she always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She shared the blessings of joy and kindness with all she met. Her life was one of deep abiding love and grace.
