Biography

John Hardesty was the son of Robert Hardesty and Elizabeth Besson of Prince George's County, Maryland.


John Hardesty was married to Henrietta Cheney on July 23, 1788[1] at Prince George's County, Maryland.

After the birth of four known children, John and Henrietta Hardesty embarked on a journey to the western frontier.

The names of four of their children are known:

Betty Hardesty, who married Tommy Winters

Joseph Hardesty, who married Jane Brooks and Mary Wilson

Thomas Hardesty

Mary Hardesty, who married Richard Meek[2]

According to family tradition, John and Henrietta Hardesty made it as far west as St Louis, Missouri, where the couple passed away.
