Betty Chesser, 74, of Louisville, died Monday, the 5th day of January, 2015, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. Born in Taylorsville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Frye and Anna Christine Matherley Hardin and the widow of Purdom Chesser. She was a member of the Taylorsville Community Church. A homemaker, she was also a former clerk at the old Swiss Dry Cleaners in Louisville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James "Buddy" Hardin.
Her survivors include her daughter, Lavenia Wheatley and her husband, Jack, of Louisville; her brother, Lonnie Hardin, and her sisters, Carolyn Alexander, Brenda Houghton, Darlene Hardin, and Kathy Ice, all of Louisville; her grandsons, Jason Shelburne and his wife, Kelly, and Stephen Shelburne and his wife, Elizabeth, all of Louisville; her four great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Rogers of Taylorsville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Friday, the 9th day of January, 2015, at the Taylorsville Community Church, with Reverend Rodney Goodlett officiating. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, and expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 161 Saint Matthews Avenue, Suite 3, Louisville, Kentucky 40207.
