Biography

The third child born to James Hardin and Mary Dixon was Elizabeth Ann Hardin "Lizzie" born Jun. 23, 1855 in Texas.

She married Joseph Benton Cobb on Nov. 8, 1872 in Comanche, Texas. He was born on Mar. 3, 1847 and was from Fannin County. They lived one mile north of Bonham in 1877. While there, Elizabeth cooked for the railroad workers. They had twelve children all born in Texas: Thomas Samuel Cobb, (two children), Joseph Benton Cobb born in Aug. of 1878, Effie Cobb born in 1879, George Wheeler Cobb born in Oct. of 1882, Martha Ola Cobb born in Dec. of 1880, James Hardin Cobb born in July of 1888, and William Gipson Cobb born in July of 1891, Robert Lee Cobb born in Oct. of 1892, Earl Witt Cobb born in Nov. of 1894, and Fred Hess Cobb born in July of 1897. Lizzie died on Oct. 28, 1930. Thomas Samuel Cobb married his first cousin Lillian Smith in 1895 in Gainsville, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma in 1902 and had a son named Randle S. Cobb born Jul. 8, 1897 in Gainsville, who died on May 13, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Thomas and Lillian later divorced and Thomas re-married to Florence Etheridge in 1920. He was the first County Judge in Seminole County, Oklahoma. Lillian re-married to a Judge Walter Benson. [1]
