Robert Elender Hardin was the son of Col. Joseph Abraham Hardin of Henrico, Colony of Virginia and Jane Gibson. He married Margaret "Peggy" McAlpin in 1807 in Greene County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Alexander McAlpin and Jane Farnsworth.
Margaret and Robert had one known child, Alexander McAlpin Hardin.
Robert was buried after 4 September 1867 in Lewisburg, Marshall Co., Tn, USA.
