DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Stephen by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Harding-1061 and Harding-296 appear to represent the same person because: Same person, married to same woman, same father; merge of duplicate mothers is proposed and is not a holdup for this merge. Place of death is superficially different, but is actually the same location -- easily fixed.
I am a ydna Gardner and I think our line has a problem assigning the correct Gardiner ancestors. Benoni (Benony) Gardner Gardiner-1394 has the wrong parents. This Benoni shoud be sourced to the Gardiners of Narrangansett reference GN 2 and his father George GN 1 as shown on George Gardiner-38 in Wiki. I am inclined to think that Herodius Long as shown in in GN and Long-161 Wiki is Benoni's mother.
Unfortunately George Gardiner has been set up with two different profiles. Gardiner-38 and the one Newell-916 set up that is noted as unsourced Gardiner-2183. Hopefully this will be reviewed. thanks all
