The 1840 census of Lenoir County, North Carolina reported Parrott M. Hardee, including 5 White and 7 Slave people: Free White males under 5 - 2, males 30-39 - 1; Free White females under 5 - 1, 20-29 - 1; Slaves males under 10 - 1, 24-35 1; Slave females under 10 - 2, 10-23 - 3. Total 12.[2]
The 1850 census of Lenoir NC reported Parrott M. Hardy 40 (farmer, real estate $5000) & Sarah M. Hardy 32, with children: Stephen P. 16, John S. 14, Mary A. 7, Susan E. 6, Parrott M. 4, Martha C. 3, William A. 2, and Lemuel 1. All were born in North Carolina.[3] The 1850 Slave Schedule of Parrott M. Hardey reported 31 enslaved people: 40 F B, 40 F B, 35 F B, 38 M B, 25 M B, 17 M B, 30 M B, 25 F B, 23 F B, 20 F B, 20 F B, 17 M B, 15 F B, 12 F B, 12 F B, 10 F B, 15 M B, 11 M B, 8 M B, 25 M B, 7 M B, 7 M B, 4 F B, 3 M B, 3 M B, 3 M B, 2 M B, 2 F B, 1 F B, 1 M B, 1 M B.[4]
The 1860 census of Bear Creek District, Lenoir NC, PO Lenoir Institute, reported Parrott M. Hardy 50 (farmer, $17,400 real estate, $41,150 personal estate) & Sarah M. Hardy 42 with their children: Mary Ann 17, Parrott M. 14, Lemuel 11, Levi S. 8, James R. 4, Martha C. 13, Sarah M. 2; and also, Pigne Croom 11 male.[5] The 1860 Slave Schedule of Parrott M. Hardy reported 37 enslaved people and 8 slave houses: 60 F B, 50 M B, 50 M B, 50 M B, 35 M B, 44 M B, 35 M B, 24 M B, 20 M B, 25 M B, 16 M B, 15 M B, 14 M B, 13 M B, 11 M B, 13 M B, 8 M B, 7 M B, 4 M B, 3 M B, 2 M B, 1 M B, 40 F B, 38 F B, 32 F B, 28 F B, 26 F B, 22 F B, 17 F B, 15 F B, 11 F B, 20 F B, 6 F B, 23 F B, 2 F B, 1 F B, 16 F B. His father's will was made on 17 Oct 1844 and proved in the November Term 1846 in Greene Co., North Carolina. The bequest to Parrott was: Item 5- son: PARROTT M. HARDY “land and plantation whereupon he now lives and whatever property that I have heretofore put into his hands.”[7]
Parrott Mewborn Hardy Sr. was probably buried at Parrott Family Cemetery, Lenoir NC.[8]

The birth and death dates for Parrott M. Hardy are probably accurate, because the were reported by his great grandson, who was born 1913 in the same area of Lenoir county as his great-grandfather.
