In the 1865 New York State Census, Henry and Elizabeth were living in Amherst, Erie county, NY with their seven children: Eva, Henry, George, Elizabeth, Philip, Magdalena (Lana) and Christiana. [2]
In the 1870 US Census, parents Henry and Elizabeth were living on a farm in Amherst, Erie, NY with their 9 children: Eva, Henry, George, Elizabeth, Philip, Magdalena (Lana), Christiana, Michael and Catharine, Their surname was written, "Hartel."[3]
The Hardy family was in the same location for the 1875 New York State Census with parents Henry and Elizabeth and seven of their children: George, Elizabeth, Philip, Magdalena (Lana), Christiana, Michael and Catharine. Also in the home was a nephew, Henry Becker/Baker, age 6. the census lists the boy as a nephew to Henry but he is the son of Eva Hardy and Christian Baker. The surname is written/transcribed as "Hearly."[4]
On 18 Mar 1879, Magdalena ("Laney) married Henry Stahl, the brother of George Stahl who married her sister, Elizabeth Hardy.[5][6] In the 1880 US Census, Laney and Henry were living in Royalton, Niagara county, NY.[7]
Laney and Henry had the following children:
Laney's mother, Elizabeth, died in April 1898 and her father,Henry Hardy died in May 1900. In the 1900 US Census, Laney and Henry were living in Emerson, Gratiot county, Michigan with their four children: John, Robert, Pearl and Elmer. Henry was a farmer. They were living next door to Laney's sister and Henry's brother - Elizabeth Hardy and George Stahl.[6]

In the 1910 US Census, Laney and Henry were living in North Star Township, Gratiot county, Michigan with children: Pearl, Dewey and Harvey. They were next door to son Robert and his family.[8]
In the 1920 US Census, Laney and Henry were living in North Star, Gratiot, Michigan with son Harvey and Harvey's wife Naomi.[9]In the 1930 US Census, Laney and Henry were in the same place.[10]
Laney's husband, Henry, died in 1934. Laney died 7 Jan 1944 in Ithaca, Gratiot, Michigan.[11]Laney was buried in Ithaca Cemetery, Gratiot county, Michigan.[1]
