Ada Mary was born about 1861 at Hull, Yorkshire, the daughter of George Hare and Mary Wilkinson. A record of her birth registration has not been located.
In the 1871 census Ada was living with her parents at Humber Bank, Barrow on Humber, Lincolnshire. Aged 9 years, she was attending school. [1]
In 1881 the family was living at Finkle Lane, Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire. Ada, aged 19, was a dressmaker. [2]
Ada Mary Hare married Harry Peck on 29 December 1885 at St Mary's Church, Barton on Humber. Their marriage certificate recorded Harry was a bachelor aged 30 and an architectural draughtsman. His father was named as William Peck, a paper maker. Ada was a spinster aged 24. Her father was named as George Hare, a brick and tile maker. At the time of their marriage both parties were living at Barton on Humber. Their witnesses were Ada's siblings George William Hare and Ann Eliza Hare. [3]
This couple had 7 children named Ada Mary Peck [born 4 April 1887], Harold Henry Peck [14 May 1888], Cyril George Peck [19 December 1890], Evelyn May Peck [4 February 1893], Alice Maud Geraldine Peck [1895], William Raymond [11 April 1897] and Adeline Thelma Peck [27 August 1901].
Ada, Harold and Cyril were baptised at St. Mary’s Church, Barton on Humber, Ada on 12 April 1887, Harold on 17 June 1888 and Cyril on 19 February 1891. The family was living at Ropery Lane, Barton on Humber when Ada was baptised and at Elm Tree Avenue, Barton on Humber when Harold was baptised. Their address was simply shown as Barton when Cyril was baptised. Harry's employment was recorded as a ship owner's foreman, an architect and an architectural draughtsman respectively. [4]
The younger children were all baptised at St. Augustine of Hippo, Newland, Kingston on Hull, Yorkshire, Evelyn on 5 April 1893, Alice on 22 January 1896, William on 16 June 1897 and Adeline on 2 October 1901. The family was living at 10 Albert Square, Ella St [all four baptisms] and Harry was employed as a draughtsman. [5]
Son William Raymond Peck died in 1899 aged 2 years. [6]
In 1891 Harry and Ada were living at West Ackridge, Barton on Humber. Harry, aged 35, was a foreman to shipping agents and steam ship owners. Ada was aged 29. Daughter Ada was aged 4 and sons Harold and Cyril were aged 2 and 3 months respectively. [7]
In 1901 the family was living at 10 Albert Square, Ella St, Sculcoates, Kingston upon Hull. Harry, aged 45, was working as a clerk in a shipping office. Ada was aged 39. Children Ada, Harold, Cyril, Evelyn and Alice were aged 13, 12, 10, 8 and 5 years. [8]
In 1911 the family was living at 16 Cammidge St, Withernsea, Yorkshire [on the coast east of Hull]. Harry, aged 55, was still working as a shipping office clerk. Ada was aged 49. Cyril, aged 20, was working as a clerk for an insurance company. Evelyn, aged 18, was a confectioner’s assistant. Alice was aged 15 and Adeline was aged 9 and attending school. [9]
Daughter Ada, aged 23, was working as a housemaid in the home of Frank Chatterton, a merchant, and siblings at 1 Leicester St, Hull. [10]
And son Harold was sharing a house at 20 Cemetery Rd, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire with Arthur Garlick. Aged 22, Harold was an order clerk at the steel works. [11]
Son Cyril George Peck died in 1914 aged 23 years. [12]
Harry Peck died in 1918 aged 63 years. [13]
Ada Mary Peck died in 1934 aged 72 years. [14]
