Oswald was born in 1902 at Northallerton, Yorkshire, the son of Fred Hare and Minnie Hare formerly Hopper. [1]
He was baptised on 25 January 1903 at the Chapelry of Yafforth, Yorkshire. The family was then living at Brick Yards, Northallerton and father Fred was a foreman. Oswald's date of birth was recorded in the baptismal register as 27 December 1902.
Yafforth is about 2 miles north west of Northallerton. [2]
In 1911 Oswald was living with his parents and siblings at Brick Works House, Northallerton. Aged 8, was attending school. [3]
The family was living in Cawood, in the Selby rural district, Yorkshire by 1914.

In the 1921 census Oswald was boarding at the home of John and Lillie Hawood at 16 Gillygate, York, Yorkshire. Aged 18, he was a costing clerk employed by Rowntree & Co, cocoa and confectionery manufacturers, at Wigginton Rd, York. Oswald was one of four boarders. [5]
Oswald Hare married Marjorie Braham in 1931. [6]
From the Yorkshire Post dated Monday 29 June 1931, Pg 5 -
HARE-BRAHAM. The wedding took place at Selby Abbey on Saturday of Mr. Oswald Hare, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Hare, of Cawood, and Miss Marjorie Braham, daughter of Councillor J. Braham and Mrs. Braham, of Flaxley Road, Selby. Canon Solloway (Vicar) officiated. The bride was given away by her father, and she was attired in a gown of cream needlerun lace over georgette, with cream satin shoes, a Juliet cap of pearls and white heather, and a veil of cream net. She wore a sapphire and crystal pendant, and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds. The bridesmaid was Miss H. M. Routledge (cousin of the bride). M. V. G. Best (York) acted as best man. A reception was held at the Mascot Café, and later the bridegroom and bride left for a motoring tour in Devon. [7]

In the 1932-1934 electoral rolls Oswald and Marjorie were living at Braeside, 35 Rosedale Ave, Acomb, Yorkshire. [8]
The 1939 Register, taken on 29 September 1939, has been described as a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The Register recorded each person's address, date of birth and occupation. At that time Oswald and Marjorie were residing at 28 Trentholme Drive, York. Oswald, born 27 December 1902, was aged 36. He was a chocolate confectionery manufacturer's manager. Marjorie, born 18 September 1904, was aged 35. The record for their son remains closed at this time [2019]. [9]
In the 1945 electoral rolls for Oswald and Marjorie were living at Manor House, Alexandra Dr, Sefton Park, Liverpool, Lancashire. Manor House was divided into apartments. [10]
In the 1947-1952 electoral rolls they were living at 9 Chase Gardens, Twickenham, London. Then in the 1953-1955 rolls they were living at 16 Tennyson Ave, Twickenham. And from 1956-1965 they were living at 206 Percy Road, Twickenham. [11]
Oswald Hare died in 1988 aged 85 years. His death was registered in Bournemouth, Dorset. Oswald's date of birth was recorded as 27 December 1902. [12]
Marjorie Hare died in 2003 aged 98 years. Her death was also registered in Bournemouth. Marjorie's date of birth was recorded as 18 September 1904.[13]
