Biography

Richard Granville Hare, 4th Earl of Listowe was born on 12 September 1866. He was the son of William Hare, 3rd Earl of Listowe and Lady Ernestine Mary Brudenell-Bruce. He married Hon. Freda Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, daughter of Francis Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, 2nd Baron Derwent and Ethel Strickland-Constable, on 1 December 1904.3 He died on 16 November 1931 at age 65. He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1890 in the service of the 1st Life Guards. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the County of London Volunteer Regiment and Royal Munster Fusiliers.2 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901, with the Imperial Yeomanry.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He succeeded to the title of 4th Viscount Ennismore and Listowel [I., 1816] on 5 June 1924.2 He succeeded to the title of 4th Earl of Listowel [I., 1822] on 5 June 1924.2 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Hare of Convamore, co.
