Biography

A successful businessman, devoted husband and father, and cherished by the community. He was a faithful decon of the Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and known to donate large sums of money to the church. He was a vital part of the construction of the Central Baptist Church in Muskogee and churches in his home town of Sulphur Springs, TX. Many of his years were connected with the Baptist Church State Mission and education work in Oklahoma.

J. T. Hargrove's descendants continue to receive royalties from mineral rights from land in Texas which, the family story goes, he won in a poker game! So we can assume that, though a devout Baptist, Mr. Hargrove was not opposed to a bit of fun at the gaming tables!
