Barbara Harlan was born in 1809 in the Cherokee Nation, the daughter of Peter Hildebrand (1782–1851), a white man, and Elizabeth Harlan (1793–1826), a Cherokee.
Barbara married Hiram Linder (born 1810 in Washington. Virginia) in 1830. Their children were Nancy Eveline , Maldrene Elizabeth, Emory, John Ross Anna Eliza , Cinderella, and Julius Caesar. [1] The 1835 Cherokee census shows a family of 5 living on Ochoa Creek (now Tennessee). [2] Their property consisting of two houses, several farm buildings, and orchards was valued at $916.00. [3] The Linder family was Removed to Indian Territory over the Trail of Tears in the Brown detachment. [4]
They settled in the Delaware District where Hiram died in 1845 and Barbara died in 1846. [5] [6]
