Biography

William Harmon, son of William and Sarah Harmon, was born 3 Apr 1735, in Braintree, Massachusetts.[1]

He married 29 May 1756 Lydia Faxon.[1]

William was a farmer and a cordwainer.[1]

He fought during the American Revolution with the rank of Lieut. and was granted £10 as a gratuity for his services and sufferings in Canada in 1776. [1]

He died 14 Sept. 1807 in Braintree.[1]

May 29, 1756, Lydia Faxon, dau. of Josiah (Josiah, Richard, Thomas), and Deborah (Thayer) Faxon. Lydia was b. Mar. 25, 1731, in Braintree, and d. July 14, 1829, aged 98, at Mrs. Horton's (prob. a dau.) house. William Harmon was a farmer and a cordwainer and lived at Brain- tree. "An order was drawn on the treasurer to pay Lieut. William Harmon 10 pounds lawful money, it being what the town granted him as a gratuity for lifs services and sufferings in Canada as an officer in 1776." (See selectman's book of Braintree records.) In 1785 Lieut. Harmon was Tythingman in Braintree. He d. Sept. 14, 1807. Deborah Thayer was a dau. of Richard and Rebecca (Micall) Thayer, of Braintree, and was bp. 11, 2, 1697, and m. Jan. 13, 1718, Josiah Faxon. Richard Faxon was a son of Richard (who was b. in England), and was bp. 31, 6, 1665, and m. July 16, 1679. Richard the first, was a freeman in Boston, in 1640.
