Biography

Peter was born about 1732. Peter Harmon ... Entered by Patrick Garcia, Jul 17, 2011

Arrived Port of Philadelphia at age 9 months from Germany, via Rotterdam. I have put 1760 as marriage date to Peter Harmon as the first child I have is born in 1761. Peter was born in Germany just before the family emigrated to the USA. He is on the passenger arrival list for 1733 in Philadelphia, PA as being 9 months of age.

I have seen some records showing him married to a Mrs. Mann late in life and dying in Virginia. I don't believe this. He was brought to Tennessee by his father, Jacob, as a child. He lived there most of his life. I just don't see him moving back to Virginia and taking another wife in his old age.

These Hermanns were rugged outdoorsmen. They had large families that were in regular contact with one another. They were also strong supporters of the Moravian or Lutheran Church in the territories. In other words, his church, family and all his friends were in Tennessee. I just don't see an old man moving back to Virginia where he doesn't know much of anyone and getting married. Doesn't make sense.
