Biography

Bessie Harmon was born on Jan. 28, 1883 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, ths daughter of Pinkney H. Harmon and Lura Dean (Hart) Harmon. She was the sister of Lettie (Harmon) Ballenger, Bessie (Harmon) Bridgeman, Nannie Lenora (Harmon) Johnson, Casper H. Harmon, Eunice Ora (Harmon) Farmer, Viola (Harmon) Abernathy and Ruby (Harmon) Foster.

Her Landrum, Spartanburg Co., SC Death Certificate #10006, dated, July 2, 1946, states her name as Mrs. BESSIE HARMON BRIDGEMAN, wife of EDWARD BRIDGEMAN, a married white female born on Jan. 28, 1883, in Spartanburg Co., SC. She was a housewife and 63 years 4 months and 4 days old at her death from a heart attack. Her father was listed as P. H. HARMON and her mother was listed as LAURA DEAN HART, both born in SC. Informant was listed as WESLEY BRIDGEMAN (son), of Landrum, SC. Undertaker was TOLLY W. PETTY and doctor was A. R. WALDEN. Interment was in the Landrum Cemetery on July 4, 1946.[1]

Her obituary appears in the Spartanburg Hearld Journal Obituary Section on, July 4, 1946, on page 2. Wife of Ed Bridgeman and daughter of P. H. and Laura Dean Hart Harmon. Survivors included four daughters; Mrs. Inez Bird, Mrs. Evelyn Feagan, Mrs. Helen Morrow, and Mrs. Edith Higgins, two sons; Ted and Wesley Bridgeman, two brothers; Casper and Bryan Harmon, ten sisters; Mrs. Lettie Ballenger, Mrs. Eunice Farmer, Mrs. Lola Tell, Mrs. Mamie Johnson, Mrs. Bertha Cochran, Mrs. Viola Aberthany, Mrs. Grace Lawson, Mrs. Ruby Foster, Mrs. Pearle Bennette, and Mrs. Blanche Russell.
