Biography

Emmitt Ray Harrell, 79, 1606 Sycamore, Niles, died at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday at Riverridge Manor, Niles, dur to natural causes.

No services are being held. A direct cremation has already taken place.

He was born on Dec. 11, 1920 in Beech Grove, TN,

On Feb. 13, 1941 he married Fentalene Hipshier in Boone Countym, KY, who survives.

He is also survived by his son, Emmitt Ray Harrell Jr. of Avon Lake, Ohio; two daughters, Mary Brocker of Niles and Betty Frank of Lyndon, KS; four brothers, Luther, Jake, and Kenneth Harrell of Niles and Richard Harrell of Portage, IN; four sisters, Pauline Rough of Niles, Barbara Smothermon of Tyler, TX, Verda Webber of South Bend, IN, Brenda Hawkins fo Reed City; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

One sister preceded him in death.

Harrell retired from being a minister within the United Church of Christ and was a World War II Army Veteran.

Emmitt was born on the 18th but birth date registered was December 11. He was a medic in the army during WWII. Emmitt attended Xavier University, Cincinnati Bible Seminary, and Hebrew Union College. Additional studies were done in University of Cincinnati, University of Chicago and Eden Theological Seminary. He was a Minister for the Congregational/United Church of Christ in the communities of Brooksville, KY, Edinburg, OH, Belpre, OH, Cincinnati, OH, and Wickliffe,OH.
