Seems to be controversy about (my) last name. Although some members of fathers family spelled Harrill but Harrell on my birth records. Probably because records were hand written and 'E' looks like 'I'...just my 2 cents. My mothers surname was Allman sometimes spelled Almond from Cabarrus county. As much as I can tell, Friesland (probably) not surname but not fluent in English was name of original fraternal line. Please contact me deepdiverjoe@gmail.com if you have additional or corrections. Especially Allmans as fathers line seems a dead end

In regards to your surname, Joseph, I would stick with what's on your birth certificate. There are lots of variations on the spelling of surnames as generations go by, and you can provide alternate spellings in your ancestors' profiles. I'm no expert, and you can get some better advice in the G2G forum.

Yes, agree. One thing though...my spelling of posted surname (Harrill) was so I could hopefully track father's family. In my research most ansectors spelled Harrill.....probably due to cencus takers spelling. I spell it Harrell because it appeared on my birth cert
