It's noted on Joan's baptism record transcription that she was baseborn to a mother named Anne Harris. A search for all Ann Harrises born in Somerset between 1668 (she would have been 15) and 1640 (38), and found eight results. Of these results, several of the locations were quite far away from Milverton where Joan was born, which enabled me to narrow the results down to three: One born in Othery, and two born in Bridgwater.
However, two of these three were born Anna rather than Ann; the only Ann of these three was baptised in Bridgwater on 1 September 1666. She would have been 17 at the time of Joan's birth. In this transcription, Ann's mother is listed as being named Joan.[5]
