Note: MRS. ELIZABETH HIEGEL was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, 13 June 1910, the daughter of Mr. andMrs. Peter (Maul) Harris. She was born again when she was baptized on3 July 1910 at Lincoln by the Reverend S.F. Schwab. She received theRite of Confirmation (on5 April 1925 at Zion Lutheran of Lincoln,Nebraska. Pastor G. J. Schmidt officiated. Mrs. Hiegel grew up and received her education at Lincoln. Then, on12 January 1928 she was united in holy matrimony to Rudolph Hiegel atCouncil Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska; then, inChicago, Illinois, and at Bayard, Nebraska, before moving to GrandIsland in January 1957. It was while they farmed north of Grand Islandthat they became members of Trinity Lutheran in 1958. They remained onthe farm until May 1969, when they moved to Lincoln. They returned toGrand Island in 1976. Our sister in Christ demonstrated her faith in many different ways.One was being a team member with Mrs. Edna Brase in visiting the sickand shut in members, singing, and praying in German with them. The'sewing/quilting room' at Trinity won't seem quite the same withouther. Her skill at making soap for folks in overseas places will bemissed, as she will be missed by her husband, Rudolph of Grand Island;her three sons: Robert of St. Libory; Lee of Apple Valley, MN; andClarence of Grand Island; Besides, there are 9 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren, one brother, Peter Harris of Lincoln; and her sisters:Margaret Schleiger and Elizabeth Loos of Lincoln; and Marie Haas ofSacramenta, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Norma JeanKramer; one great grandson; and one brother. At Trinity Lutheran shewas a member of the Ladies' Aid, Sewing Circle, and Bible study. 'I fall asleep in Jesus' wounds, there pardon for my sins abounds;yea, Jesus' blood and righteousness my jewels are, my glorious dress.In these before my God I'll stand when I shall reach the heavenlyland.
