She appears on the 1910[2] census in the household of her grandfather, Jeter (also spelled Geter and Getter on census documents and his headstone. Shows originally as Jeter, so that's how I will call him. DKM) Harris, along with her father, Dock Holland Harris, and her brother Walter.
She married George Swain 22 May 1918 in Tattnall County, Georgia[3]. She was named as next of kin on his World War I draft registration[4].
When she was only nineteen, her father was shot and killed by her estranged husband, George, and his brother Nick. Their case went to the Georgia Supreme Court, where they were found guilty of murder and sentenced to prison. (see her father Dock's profile for more information.)
To support herself after George went to prison, she took employment living with a family to help take care of the infirm[5]. In 1920 she lived in Collins, Tattnall County, Georgia with Perry Moseley and his family[6].
She married Marion Moseley Sr. 25 September 1921 in Emanuel County, Georgia.
In 1930[7], Marion and Carrie lived in Stillmore, Emanuel County, Georgia with Eilene and Willene. Still living in Stillmore in 1940, their children with them were Eilene, Willene, Imogene, Earl Dean, and Billy[8]. They lived in Emanuel County in 1950, with Willene, Jeanne, and Pete (Earl Dean) living at home. (Where was Dad/Billy?)[9]
Carrie died 27 October 1994 in Statesboro, Georgia[10][11] and was buried in Cool Spring Cemetery, Candler County, GA.
She was mentioned in her son Earl Dean "Pete" Mosley's obituary[12].
UPDATE: 9/1/2016
My first cousin lived with Carrie and her oldest daughter Eilene as a child and remembers hearing Granny say that she 'sat with the infirmed' to support herself after George Swain went to prison. This could be her, helping Perry Moseley and his daughters.
