Biography

He was born on 02 Nov 1708 in Virginia and his father of record was Robert Harris (some descendants claim DNA evidence that proves John was the child of Robert's second wife, Anne, who was a widow, and fathered by her first husband, said to be Edward Fuller; pregnant at the time of the marriage, the laws of the time legally declared Robert Harris his father, see Robert's profile research notes for details). His mother may have been Mary Wooten, or perhaps Anne (_____) Fuller.

John was named in the will of Robert Harris, which Robert wrote on 27 Jun 1712, in York Hampton Parish, Virginia. He added a codicil on 6 July 1712. His will was presented and proved during the November 1716 session of the York County, Virginia, court.[1]

"Item I give to my Two Sons Robt & Jno all my Leather, Thread, Shoemakers Tools, & Curriers Tools to be Equally Divided between them.
Item I give to my Son Jno Harris Two Cows, a Stear [sic] & Six head of Sheep."

John Harris married about 1729 in Virginia to Agnes Hutchinson.

He died about 1763.

Research Notes

Possible inventory of estate (date does not match that given on this profile, but was in York where he lived, and estate contains shoemakers tools, which, aside from some livestock, were his primary inheritance from Robert Harris, since both his elder brothers survived and kept the land given them):

Harris-14049 and Harris-9113 appear to represent the same person because: dups with same parents and same spouse. Note that one death date is an AFTER date

Harris-1873 and Harris-9113 do not represent the same person because: different parents

Linda - I've set this profile in an unmerged match with Harris-19093 because that John has different dates but is married to an Agnes Hutchinson ... his dates match with another John Harris.

Did MyHeritage cite any sources for dates or marriage to Agnes? (The link you posted takes me to a pay wall.)

Thanks, Liz

The dates for this profile are a match with Harris-9113 (John, 1708-1763), but Harris-14049 (John, 1693-1740) is attached as huband for a duplicate profile of Agnes. I've set them as an unmerged match - could you take a look?

Thanks!

Harris-9113 and Harris-19093 appear to represent the same person because: Hi! These were set as rejected, but dates match & birth location matches. They look like they're meant to be for the same person to me. Could you take another look? Thanks!
