Edward "Stanley" was born in 1869. He was the son of William Prole Harris and Elizabeth Rachel Scott Cockburn.
He was christened on 14 October 1869 at Holy Trinity, Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, England[2]. His father was a Gentleman of the Abbey House.
England and Wales Census, 1871: Stanley was living with his parents and four siblings in Prospect Lodge, Braunton, Devon, England. He was aged 1.
By 1881 the family were living at "The Firs" in Braunton, Devon.
When Stanley was 12 the family emigrated from England to New Zealand, departing Gravesend on 3 December 1881 arriving on 10 March 1882 on the "Oxford". The voyage took 98 days with Captain Braddock in command.
The family settled on land in No.1 Road, Te Puke under the George Vesey Stewart scheme. Their property was named Lynwood.
Sadly Stanley passed away in 1888 at the age of 19.
