Wiile Gordon Harris was the second child born to Annie Baker and Glover Harris. He was born in Louisiana on January 22, 1909.

He married Leona Josephine "Mickie" Harris in about 1931. They lived in Shreveport, Louisiana and later moved to Carthage, Texas. They had one daughter.
