Biography

Martha married to Samuel Ivers (or Ivins) joined wagon train headed for Oregon from Pennsylvania when the train stopped in Illinois. Samuel died in route. There is a Samuel Ivers born December 25, 1826 and died February 22, 1855 in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau County, Mo., but a relationship has not been established. Martha set up a boarding house in the gold rush town of Florence, Idaho. John Montgomery continued to Oregon, but soon returned to Florence and eventually married Martha. They ended up in Council Idaho. Martha had two sons with Ivers - Robert and Timothy. Histories of these children have not been found. She had six children with Montgomery.^[1]
