Biography

In 1850, Greenville was living in his father's household in the Northern District of Patrick County, Virginia. He was working as a laborer.^[1]

In the 1860 census, Greenville (age 29), farmer with a personal estate valued at $50, was enumerated with his wife and children in the North Division of Patrick County, Virginia, United States. Greenville was farming next door to his parents, William and Elizabeth Harris. Both families were listed under the spelling "Harriss." Greenville's younger brother, Samuel, was listed living on the other side of the elder Harris couple. On this census page, only Harden Hylton was listed as owning real estate, valued at $1,000. Perhaps the Greenville and the other farmers on this census page were renting from him, or from other land owners.^[2]

In 1870, Greenville was living with his wife Rhoda and his children in Patrick County, Virginia.^[3]

In the 1880 census, Greenville (age 51), Farmer, was enumerated with his wife and family in Smiths River, Patrick, Virginia, United States.^[4]
