Biography

Mary L Harris was born on August 11, 1841 in Vestal, Broome, New York, United States, daughter of Joseph Harris (1806–1849).

Mary (17) married Luther Bennett Mayo (21) (born on February 5, 1837 in Windsor; son of Cyrenus Mayo and Juliann Bennett) on August 11, 1858 in Windsor [citation needed]. There were 3 children:

  • Adelbert Bennett Mayo (February 1861 – March 1952)
  • Emma L Mayo (4 October 1866 – 3 March 1930); married Oscar Sweet Barton
  • Rosa C Mayo (October 1872 – 5 April 1924); married Amos H. Andrews

This family resided consistently in Windsor Township, Broome County, New York [1],[2],[3],[4]. This was a rural farming family, as were most residents of the southern tier counties of New York State.

Mary died on May 3, 1904 in Edson, New York, aged 62. Her grave is in South Windsor Cemetery, South Windsor, Broome County, New York, USA [5].
