James was born in 1886, the son of Henry Alexander Harris and Laura Edith Gladstone.
UK Census Date 1891: Recorded in the household of his uncle Edward Harris (along with his parents and siblings) in Cedars Rd, Clapham, London, England. Aged 1.
UK Census Event Date 31 March 1901: Living with his mother, two siblings Kate and James, and one servant in Exeter, Devon, England. Aged 11.
