Research Note

James C Harris (Elizabeths first Husband) died on hospital boat "City of Memphis" in 1864. Monroe was born in 1869. Mother Elizabeth is Head of household in 1870 Census. Elizabeth remarried to James M Callahan in 1875. Monroe is listed as stepson to Callahan in 1880 Census. Rumor is that Monroe is illegitamate child of a Dr. Waller Parker but have not found confirmation yet.
