She was the oldest of four children. Though only married a short time Haley and Sarah had four children. Note there was negative blood in the family though I'm not sure if it came grandma Sarah Jane's side or not but her two daughters both had this blood type causing problems in births. I will tell you this story. As a child I ask my grandmother about our family, don't remember the exact reason but I asked if we had Indian blood. She told me yes. I remember asking what kind, yes I said what kind, remember I was a child. All grandma Alsbrooks said was it was the bad kind and would not go on. Perhaps if mom hadn't came in at that time she would have told me more but mom told me not to be nosy.
I found later that her Harris/Weeks could be Choctaw but unable to prove anything because of no documentation. This family kept their mouths shut. She did say enough to make me wonder. Something about the Hardin family or someone being tar and feathered and ran out of town. Not sure of whether it was our family but from what I overheard, I don't think the taring was on this family line. The Harris and Weeks line were in Texas as early as 1836 , the Weeks in Newton Co, and the Harris in Nacogdoches Territory.
