Jonathan Harris was born on June 12, 1710 [12 d 4m 1710] at Smithfield, Rhode Island. [1] He was the son of Richard Harris and Lydia King.[2]
He married his second wife, Anne (Whipple) Mowry, widow of Joseph Mowry, after September 1764. [2]
Jonathan died at Smithfield on September 24, 1785 [24 d 9m 1785], aged 75. [1]
His will is dated 29 September 1784 and proved on 17 October 1785 in Smithfield, Rhode Island.[3] His date of death is recorded in the heading of his inventory which was taken on the 6th and 7th of September 1785.
His widow Anne Harris died at Uxbridge, Massachusetts in 1806.[4]

Jonathan Harris was a Quaker, as witnessed by his inclusion in early Quaker records and notation of his religion in the Rhode Island military census.
Jonathan was a farmer in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He lived at the Old Louisquisset Pike and Wilbur Road intersection, where the house that he built in 1742 still stands. Jonathan sold his share of the Harris Limerock Quarry that he had inherited from his father Richard to his brother David Harris.[1]
