Biography
Clara was baptised on 18 November 1827 in Abbots Leigh, Somerset by parents Mathaniel and Maria. Nathaniel was a Smith. [1]
On 30 April 1854 John Spear and Clara Harris married in Westbury on Trym. John was a shoe Maker as was his father Daniel. Clara's father Nathaniel Harris was a Blacksmith. [2]
In 1871 John and Clara were living at Bristol Eye Hospital Bristol with children Henry J and Ann. John was a Police Sergeant and Clara was a Matron of Eye Hospital. Their household seemed to include 3 'patients'. (Bringing your work home with you was obviously a thing in 1871).[3]
