Biography

It is alleged that Andrew Harrison was born about 1628 in Over, Cambridgeshire, England. His middle name is in question, given the time period and lack of sources.

Andrew Harrison married Margaret Barber on 28th August 1636 in St Giles, Cripplegate, London. It is highly unlikely he was born eight years prior. [1]

*Richard Harrison/[2]

Event

  • Arrival was in 1634 at Virginia [3]

Death

Death:
Date: 1680
Place: Northcumberland, County, Virginia

Research Note

Given that this Andrew or Andrew Richard (middle names are less common during this time period) married Margaret in 1636 in England, it seems less likely he was the same person who arrived at Virginia in 1634. It's not to say it did not happen, but further records and research are needed to confirm this. I wouldn't rule out this profile having some mixed information from another individual's life. - Vincent-2548

Also note that his parents married after he was allegedly born and a year before he married. Added back to unsourced category because too many issues with the timeline and his ancestors.

This profile, appears to be one of many that are repeated in various forms on the Internet.

Did he really marry at the age of eight?
posted by Jillaine Smith
Probably not, but I did locate the marriage reference. So now the birth is in question.

Thanks. And what about the double given name/middle name? Was he Andrew or Richard? Middle names were not used by this demographic in that era.

Not sure on that either. I agree, it was uncommon to have a middle name as well. I've added it to the Cambridgeshire maintenance category because this profile needs some work. I've left a research note because it seems unlikely he married in England after going to Virginia and then returning before going back again. If he was a merchant, or captain or something of that nature, it might make a bit more sense, but then perhaps there would be more records.
