Biography

John Harrison was born in West Kirby, Cheshire, England in 1633. he emigrated to Boston in 1641 with his family.

"John Haryson" married "Catcherin" at Wethersfield, Connecticut on 4 May 1653.[1]

Children Rebecca, Sarah, Mary.

Death 3 Aug 1665[2]

HARRISON, JOHN, Wethersfield, merchant, freeman of Conn. 1657, d. 3 Aug. 1666, leaving large estate, three daughters: Rebecca, Mary, and Sarah. His widow Catharine, of unpleasant temper, was indict. as a witch, and found guilty; but the Court had more sense than the jury, set aside the verdict, and advised the prisoner to remain out of the reach of her timid or malignant neighbours. [3]

Wethersfield Land Records provide a clear summary of the marriages of John Harrison's daughters:

On 10 Nov 1680, "Josiah Hunt Sometime husband of Rebecka Hunt Late deceased Daughter of John and Keatheran Harison Somtimes of wethersfeild in New England And Theophilus Turford Husband of mary Turford Daughter of the aforenamed John and Keatheran Harison and Thomas Vaile Husband of Sarah Vaile Daughter also of the aforenamed John and Keatheran Harrison beeing all of the Jurisdiction and Colony of new york" sold to "John woodbridge of weathersfeild" a homested in Wethersfield "which formerly Appurtained unto our aforenamed father in Law John Harrisson Deceased" (Wethersfield Land Records, Vol 3, Pt 1, p. 91).
